A NEW, NATURAL NASAL SPRAY DEVELOPED BY A NORWEGIAN EAR, NOSE AND THROAT SPECIALIST

From 2008 to 2010, the Norwegian ear, nose and throat specialist Dr Paal Bentsen had his practice in Provence, in southern France, the Mecca of essential oils.
He came into contact here with the herbs and he became fascinated by essential oils and their use in everyday life in France. He was most enthusiastic about the usage for his patients.

He felt that a product without side effects that could alleviate problems for instance after operations and in the upper respiratory tract was lacking and so he evolved the idea of manufacturing his own product.

After years year of testing and making improvements, a balanced blend was evolved in order to help his patients.

The current nasal spray consists of organically grown olives and organic oils, as well as eucalyptus, peppermint, lemon and lavender.

Dr Bentsen had previously developed a nasal oil in the laboratory in his practice but as demand increased, he resolved to start a larger production in Provence. The blend of select oils has a pleasant smell and gives the entire body a feeling of general well-being.

The nasal spray is completely natural, without chemical additives or preservatives. The nasal spray has been used by his patients for several years without any side-effects.

THE SOOTHING ALTERNATIVE WITHOUT SIDE-EFFECTS

Dr. Bentsen’s Nasal Spray is also an excellent alternative for people who have side-effects due to intensive use of a medicinal nasal spray.

By means of the extraordinary consistency and the blend of essential oils there is no feeling of ‘burning’, and users gain a liberating feeling of being able to breathe freely through the nostrils and unblocked sinuses.

Dr. Bentsen’s Nasal Spray alleviates the feeling of dryness in the respiratory tracts which can result from spending a day in a dry working environment.

Dr. Bentsen’s Nasal Spray bestows a feeling of well-being, has no side effects and users do not become physically dependent on the spray.

WHAT IS AN ESSENTIAL OIL?

Only organically grown products are used to gain an essential oil. The production itself occurs by means of distillation (steam) and without any artificial or chemical additives.

Essential oils have been used in medicine and healing processes for thousands of years. Despite access nowadays to modern pharmaceuticals, the oils remain indispensable. The production of essential oils in France is subject to strict supervision. Only registered laboratories and pharmacists have the right to blend two or more essential oils.

OLIVE OIL

Dr Bentsen decided to use olive oil as the basis so as to avoid frequent allergies towards kernel oils such as peanuts, almonds and sesame.

LAVENDEL – ANGUSTIFOLIA

Lavender is a wild plant that grows in Mediterranean regions and in France, and is grown and produced elsewhere throughout the world. There are several species of lavender, depending on whether it grows in low-lying areas or in Alpine regions. The most famous region for lavender production is Provence in southern France.

Lavender is one of the most widely used herbs and is renowned for its soothing effect which makes it a popular means to help people to sleep. It is also used as a cure for colds, sinusitis and throat infections. Lavender is anti-inflammatory and has an anti-septic effect in the respiratory tracts.

LEMON – CITRUS LIMON

The essential oil of the lemon is gained directly from the fruit peel. This has a strengthening, haemostatic, disinfecting, anti-bacterial and anti-viral effect, brings down temperature, is antiinflammatory, purifies, cools and can strengthen the arterial walls in the nose and also alleviates wheeziness.

It is also used internally to help to cure feverishness, bronchitis, inflammation of the bladder, sinusitis, influenza and to build up a weak immune system. If lemon juice is diluted with water and used for gargling, it is a good cure for sore throats, colds, influenza and circulatory problems as well as arterial sclerosis.

EUCALYPTUS GLOBOSUS

Eucalyptus oil has a strong anti-septic effect and is used to cure colds with blocked respiratory tracts and high temperature. According to the elementary doctrine eucalyptus has a warming and drying effect.

The eucalyptus essential oil is a strong anti-biotic and is used to prevent or cure infections in the respiratory tracts, such as colds, influenza, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia and headaches (migraine) resulting from blocked nasal passages and sinuses. It can also be used as an expectorant and is thus suitable for inhaling.

Eucalyptus has a stimulating and invigorating effect and helps to promote powers of concentration. The leaves and branches of the eucalyptus tree, which can grow up to between 30 and 40 cm high, are used to produce the essential oil.

MENTHA X PIPERITA

Peppermint is a plant that grows up to 80 cm high. It is a hybrid and was not originally a wild plant. The herb is used in cooking and as a medicine in temperate regions and grown worldwide. The oil itself is gained by distillation from the plant itself which is mainly composed of menthol.

Peppermint is used frequently for bronchial teas and as an expectorant. The essential oil has a gently refreshing odour which has a strengthening and enlivening effect.

The oil has an anti-septic effect and can alleviate spasms in the respiratory tracts, and is therefore suitable for inhalation. It can also be used to cure colds, influenza, alleviate asthma, bronchitis, is an expectorant and can cure sinusitis and coughs.

ABOUT THE PRODUCT

Dr. Bentsen’s Nasal Spray is suitable for alleviating colds, where the air is dry or there is a dry interior environment, and can also be used in addition to medication which dries out the nasal mucous membrane.

The nasal spray can be used by everyone.

If used for children under the age of 2, the oil should be applied beneath and outside the nose.

For adults the dose is to spray up each nostril once in the morning and once in the evening so as to improve the feeling of well-being in the nose and the sinuses.

Dr. Bentsen does, however, recommend patients to try and find the best dose for him- or herself.

Persons who might be allergic to one of the substances should be very careful in using the spray.
